Re: Lodge drive parking

Is the petition for pay and display for people using the Common Room only? And who are they going to petition? The Common Room owners could pay the landowner so their customers could use it (as I presume Don Luigi does). At the risk of repeating myself, private individuals cannot FINE anyone, they i...

Re: Culcheth in the 30's & 40"s

So did the Jacksons bazaar van become the Jacksons DIY shop where Culcheth DIY now stands?

Re: Question

A google search revealed:- Q - How can I tell whether a road is private? A - The highway authority - usually the County Council - keeps a statutory list of "highways maintainable at the public expense". If the road is on this list it is not a private road. If it isn't on the list, it is al...

Re: The New Culcheth Arms

Popped in for a quick one after work today (4pm). Got my pint, sat down with my friends, then it all kicked off at the bar. Next thing, two police cars, three police officers in the pub. It brought a lump to my throat, just like the old days. (We all got a free drink though and the management sorted...

Re: HS2 Meeting

"Only room for 280" Apart from discussion on here (seems Anti), and the odd mention in licenced establishments in the Village (neither for or against), there doesn't seem much heart in the opposition movement at the moment. I think people think it will all blow over and the idea will just ...

Re: The New Culcheth Arms

'Needs a lot of proof reading' is a major understatement, who puts so much money into a new business and then puts out a webpage like that?
Also the 'Coat of Arms' on the website. Why use the Warrington one? Why not use the Culcheth one? Have they a clue about this village?

Not a good start.

Re: Fortnightly Black Bin Collections

I'll comment, but not as a moderator. Here is how I see it from a personal view (as Raven says, one size doesn't fit all). When the wheelie bins were issued, for about 12 years I had one bin to put all my rubbish in. Garden waste, bottles, everything, there was not enough space. I used to go up the ...

Re: HS2

CCK, "Your missing the point, what i'm saying is they will just use the existing railway, course they are preliminary plans, they will submit them then go for the existing railway, they have pretty much got it in the bag." I don't understand this line of reasoning. " As for relocating Tay...

Re: HS2

Quote "there is no way they will go through Taylors, thus shutting all the businesses down, moreover they can't just go straight through the old rectory,it's being done up as we speak!" Considering the Billions of pounds being spent on this they will do pretty much whatever they wish, Taylor...

Re: HMS Arial

I'd be interested to see it. I am a member of Culcheth Sports Club that occupies some HMS Ariel buildings and grounds. Also, maybe the Library would be interested to include it in the Local History section. Could I please see it or a copy of it? What do you want to do with it long term? PM me if you...

Re: Friday and Saturday rubbish on Common Lane

Just an idea but all food takeaways to be closed by 10pm, well before the pubs close. I wont wholly cure it, but it is likely to reduce the amount of littering [-X [-X [-X Good thinking but unfortunatly a lot of takeaway food income comes when people leave licenced premesis, if they had to shut at ...

Re: New Redrow development proposed for the village

Watching,
"The fence round the land will be to enable them to carry out any works they feel fit outside the Public gaze"

I don't think you really know where people are talking about, you may have issues with Orica or Redrow but I'm a little confused with your post.

Re: New Redrow development proposed for the village

As far as I am aware, the Golf Club don't own the Orica site. They do however own the field between the proposed development and the Orica site (as you walk along the footpath to the railway, the field on the right). There are plans drawn to make this part of the Club to lengthen the 16th Hole but i...

Re: Friday and Saturday rubbish on Common Lane

The Parish Council does employ someone to pick up litter, trouble is he's not working Friday/Saturday afternoons/evenings. It is the businesses responsibility to clear up within a certain distance of their premesis, it's part of their licencing agreement with WBC, if this is not happening, report th...
