Re: Problems with broadband

Thanks for that.
Have had vague thoughts of upgrading to a 'smart' TV. Currently got Freeview and they are saying that they will be increasing the number of channels they are providing.

Would that be through the 'net' via a 'smart' TV? Then would presumably upgrade broadband?

Re: Problems with broadband

Anyone got view on the Superfast Broadband. TalkTalk are saying it can be ordered for an extra £5 per month.

Is it worth having if you are someone who does not do big downloads?

Caravans at Birchwood

Just a note to say that if you want to use the car park at Birchwood that serves the station you may find it blocked by caravans.

This is the £1.50 per day car park behind Asda.

Re: Glebeland/Little London

I live in Pendle Gardens and know that it was built on the nuclear labs site, along with the next estate (Langcliffe). I had a friend who was an surveyor (or engineer or something ) who was part of the team checking for nuclear materials. He assured me the site had been declared a 'nuclear free zone...

Re: Hurrah! Another restaurant?

Sorry just saw the post above about the 'Raj Bari'. As I said seemed virtually empty last night. Is this, at last, an Indian too far?

Re: Hurrah! Another restaurant?

Probably missing something here but a bit mystified by what is happening to the old Raj next to Don Luigi's.

Went past last night. Fully lit up as the Raj tables laid out for customers but no sign of any or of any staff.

What is that all about?

Chopper wrote:Talk of a 1% community fund from the profits of rigs if they're in your area.

Isn't Croft's battlefield near a site too?

Not sure they'd allow fracking near an HS2 line though!

They could use it to power the engines!

Re: HS2

As an update.....in return for not opposing the route of HS2 through Lowton and Leigh, Andy Burnham is asking HS2 Ltd to support an application for a station for Leigh. You're going to laugh at this, under his proposals Leigh's new station won't even be in Leigh. Burnham and Transport for Leigh's (...

Re: Big O Warrington Road

They are steaming along Wigshaw Lane now. Not much room to get over the Linear Park bridge. Leaving the closure of Glaziers Lane as a treat at the end.

Re: Question

Doesn't seem to exist according to Google maps, which might suggest the Google street view car avoided it. This would suggest not a public road.

Postcode suggests somewhere off Church Lane?

Re: HS2 Meeting

Due prior commitments, I wasn't there but apparently it was a bit of a shambles but from a couple of friends that did attend here's a couple of salient snippets. Apparently Culcheth Linear Park is the 'Jewel in the Crown of Culcheth' - Keith Bland. Funny I've thought it was a dismantled railway tha...
