Re: HS2

I was surprised to see that the “Culcheth Community Group” was appearing in Parliament last week before the HS2 Select Committee in support of a petition they had lodged raising concerns about HS2. The Select Committee was hearing “from people who will be affected by Phase Two as HS2 proceeds”. So ...

Re: HS2

As odd as it sounds it's the best approach. It's going to go ahead as a national project. Best to make sure it has as little impact on communities when it does so rather than standing on the beach trying to turn back the tide. To focus all effort on trying to stop it leaves you no alternative when i...

Re: Problems with broadband

As always with BT it's a mystery, and they aren't in a hurry to inform anyone of anything. I'll be signing up with another provider once it's available. Zen are good.

Re: Parking at Lodge Drive

Worth noting that they've currently suspended handing out these notices on a six month trial basis at Lodge Drive (around the front of the shops, and the car park opposite, not the at the rear so be careful there). http://www.warrington-worldwide.co.uk/articles/18356/1/Parking-restrictions-lifted-at...

Re: Problems with broadband

Unless they actually run the fibre to a cabinet in Glazebury we're likely to only see about 10-15 Meg here (as we get about 2-3 at the moment). It'd be a shame not to run it all the way here now while they're doing it. I doubt they'd want to revisit later.

Re: Marco Marco/Cibo

I think the one in Didsbury is still open, for now. Marco Marco went belly up, allegedly they owed a lot of money to staff and suppliers. From what I understand his wife then opened Cibo in the same locations and allegedly did the same thing. Lots of unhappy staff, suppliers and customers who lost d...

Re: Problems with broadband

Our problem is that the centre of Culcheth does just fine. They are in no hurry to run cables down the roads out of Culcheth that only have houses on either side of it and fields behind them as they can't connect umpteen housing estates as they go. Top that up with the fact that a lot of businesses ...

Re: Problems with electricity

I've tried reporting it but the staff helpline can only record outages when the power is actually off.

No idea how this helps them spot faults until it's too late but I got the impression they don't care too much.

Re: Problems with broadband

That date of May was published before they announced further delays in their rural broadband roll out.

If you go to connecting Cheshire there is more info there on local roll outs I think.

They haven't even laid the fibre yet.

Re: Problems with broadband

There are no plans to bring fibre to Culcheth until well into 2014. Even when an exchange gets it, it's a while before it is rolled out to consumers.

We're classed as a 'future exchange' and have about a year to go, maybe more.

Re: Problems with broadband

I live near the CofE school in Glazebury and I barely get 2Meg.

The issue is that the exchange is in Culcheth and our speed is lousy as a result.

Re: Charity Shop

Not sure if it's going to be a place of worship as well as the food bank, I haven't seen any change of use notices going up. The majority of the parking would be on a Sunday I would imagine but any events they have on at other times would probably fill up the few spaces for parking there quickly. Al...

Re: Charity Shop

It's the same everywhere at the moment Raven. Very sad but it's good that groups are helping.

Incidentally Culcheth Community Church is the Grace Fellowship Church renamed.
